Filtered the new Peugeot 208! This is the new utility of the French firm

Leaks are the order of the day, not only in the technology market, but also in the automobile market. The last victim the new Peugeot 208, which is scheduled to be presented at the Geneva Motor Show, which will take place from March 7 to 17, but which, thanks to a leak, we already know quite well.

The new utility vehicle of the French firm follows the design line marked by the Peugeot 3008 and the Peugeot 508, with very sharp shapes that provide a modern, sporty and aggressive touch, without losing a French design that is very attractive. 

Exterior worked, modern and aggressive

The front of the Peugeot 208 has shapes that are slightly reminiscent of a Mazda 2, with an elongated and muscular hood, which falls to end in a very elaborate radiator grille, leaving prominence to the lion logo of the French brand. The headlights, characterized by three LEDs and one elongated, in the style of the Peugeot 508, exude modernity and daring in their shapes.

The side is probably the part of the new 208 where you can best appreciate the sportiness of the French utility vehicle. The fall of the hood, the prominent rear spoiler or the shapes of both the C-pillar and the tension lines, reflect a worked product., inspired by the Peugeot 308, but with the model's own character. In my opinion, the black wheel arches, which contrast with the body color, do not seem entirely attractive to me, although I suppose it will be an option.

The rear, finally faithfully follows the design line of the new Peugeot models, specifically the Peugeot 508. The rear lights, made up of three LED stripes, are shown joined by a black stripe where the name of the French firm is located, just below its logo, and which helps to produce a feeling of spaciousness in the width dimension.

The interior…more of the same?

As for the interior, the images reveal a cabin where modernity predominates, both for the already famous i-Cockpit of the French firm, and for the chosen materials. The dashboard is made up of two heights, where the infotainment system screen and the digital instrument panel are located on the upper one, and the air conditioning controls are located on the lower one.

One thing I don't like about the dashboard design is the use of piano black that is so disliked for its ease of getting dirty, although it is true that it brings an elegant touch to the whole. The steering wheel, on the other hand, is identical to the one we could see in the Peugeot 508, and the instrument panel will have new graphics, although it is probably the same one that the French firm uses in models such as the 3008 or the aforementioned 508.

A fully electric version? It looks like it is!

The environmental and governmental pressure of the organizations of the different countries has led many brands to offer new hybrid and electric options for their models, in order to reduce emissions and expand the range of products. Peugeot will do the same with the new 208.

Although it is still a rumor and there is nothing confirmed by the French firm, it is more than likely that Peugeot will use the electrical system that the DS3 Crossback E-Tense already uses, and that is made up of a 135 horsepower electric motor fitted with a 50 kWh battery pack, which can travel 300 kilometers without recharging according to the WLTP cycle.
