Porsche announces its electric lineup and "forgets" about a model

Porsche Panamera range

Porsche is one of the advantaged "students" in electrification in the Volkswagen Group. With the Taycan they have made history and not only that, they are working together with Audi to create a premium modular platform. But its plan is still somewhat behind schedule if we compare it with rival firms (although with less pedigree) such as Audi, BMW or those of Mercedes-Benz. Hence, they want to speed up all their projects and thus, by the way, stick out their chests whenever they can.

The last time we had news of a future electric model from Porsche It was recently. If you do a bit of memory you have to remember that it was a type model SUV with space for seven passengers. What's more, gossip pointed to the fact that it would hit the market in 2027. Well, now the Stuttgart house confirms at the 2023 Annual Press Conference that a great offensive of electric modelsalthough one is missing.

Porsche announces that the Cayenne EV will arrive around 2025 but the Panamera does not say anything...

Porsche EV range

Oliver Blume, CEO of the firm, took advantage of the event to announce when some of the new electric models they are developing will hit the market. The first, and most obvious, is the fourth generation Cayenne and in this way, it makes it clear that it will not be based on the current one that will be updated in April. The second electric model that we will find in its commercial network will be the new Macan EV that should be official sometime in 2024.

We have already talked about the Macan EV because, among other things, We have caught it performing validation tests. But there is more like, for example, the ratification that they are working on the 7-seater SUV that we talked about before. And not only that, but it will be based on the modern SSP Sport platform that Porsche is developing together with the Audi team. In addition, it has explained its raison d'être: to monopolize sales in profitable markets such as the US and China.

But, in addition, the Cayenne EV, Macan EV and that mysterious large SUV EV are not the only novelties. Soon the new generation of the 718 will also become one hundred percent electric giving a touch of sportiness. And with all this mix of models, the Bavarian house wants more than 80% of its annual sales by 2030 to be electric vehicles. But don't you miss a model, or two? Yes, they don't say anything about the Panamera and they say nothing about the 911...

They say nothing about the Panamera. Simply that with the "Road to 20" plan they want to reach an operating return on sales of the Volkswagen Group of more than 20% in the long term. Of the 911, a hybrid version is expected to hit the market before 2030. And up to here we can read, so we understand that the Panamera could either die to be replaced by the Taycan or mutate into this great SUV that we have already talked about... Time to time, right?
